Baseball fans across Wisconsin may tell you something unexcepted: they have a favorite type of sausage. Sausage mascot, that is! One popular tradition at Milwaukee Brewers games is the Famous Racing Sausages. Beginning as a virtual race on the Brewers scoreboard in the 1990s, the Famous Racing Sausages developed into a real race between mascots.

There are currently five racing sausages: Brat, Chorizo, Hot Dog, Italian Sausage, and Polish Sausage. These races entertain children and adults alike, as they root for their favorite mascot to sprint and take home the gold. As of August 29, 2024, Italian Sausage takes the lead with 18 wins!

This tradition would not be complete without some friendly competition between teams. The racing sausages have competed against the racing pierogies of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
