Dawson Stroik Passes Preliminary Exam
Dawson Stroik is a third-year PhD candidate in the Cellular & Molecular Pathology Graduate Program conducting his dissertation research in Dr. Wei Guo’s lab. He recently passed his preliminary exam and advanced to dissertator status. Through the UW–Madison Cardiovascular Research Center, he previously received a T32-affiliated travel award and was recently appointed to a T32 trainee to develop DNA- and RNA-centric therapeutics for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
Dawson’s research focuses on identifying strategies to modulate myocardial stiffness to alleviate diastolic dysfunction, combining in vitro screening with in vivo validation. He is first author on a peer-reviewed review article in Frontiers in Physiology examining the roles, functions, and pathological implications of the cardiac sarcomere protein titin.
